The Village Garden Club of La Jolla presented Nancy K. Clarke, former White House Chief Floral Designer, at Sherwood Auditorum at MCASD's La Jolla location. Clarke gave a lecture, demonstration, and picture presentation of her 30-year career serving six United States presidents. Called "The Flower Czar" by many, Clarke was given the prestigious 2006 Award of Merit to Industry by the American Institute of Floral Designers. A reception followed at St. James Hall. Proceeds benefitted the garden club's Schoolyard Gardening Project.
