More than 200 supporters gathered for the opening night of the Salk Institute’s 50th anniversary celebration featuring a blend of superb science, iconic architecture, and beautiful art. Guests enjoyed a cocktail reception and outdoor viewing of artwork by renowned artist Dale Chihuly, whose pieces are included in more than 200 museum collections worldwide. Chihuly has created many well-known series of works, among them the Baskets, Persians, and Macchia, but he is particularly known and celebrated for large architectural installations, most notably in Venice, Jerusalem, and London, as well as across the United States. Guests enjoyed remarks by Chihuly, music by Daniel Reichard and Cris O’Bryon, and cuisine by Jeffrey Strauss of Pamplemousse Grille.
