There were lots of pearls and chic little suits at the recent Lunch with a Legend to benefit the Refugee Network. The stylish guests at the Hyatt Regency La Jolla at Aventine were raising funds while paying homage to fashion icon Coco Chanel. Her life and work were remembered in a fascinating lecture by book dramatist Lee Wolf of Palm Beach, (who was wearing pink Chanel, of course). Wolf’s daughter-in-law Kay Gurtin co-chaired the event with Sandy Morgan and Judith Judy. The luncheon, which included an auction and boutiques, raised $40,000 for the grassroots Refugee Network, a nonprofit providing aid to war-torn refugees. The organization has helped thousands of Sudanese and Burmese refugees with food, housing, medical care and education. Would Coco approve? We have to think, “Mais ouis!”
