The Del Mar Unit of Rady Children’s Hospital Auxiliary presented an evening reception featuring great wine, delicious appetizers, and scrumptious desserts at the Del Mar home of Gary Horning and Linda Cipriani. Supporters gathered to honor the work of the Rady Children’s Hospital and to hear from special guest speaker, Dina MacDonald, from the Rady Children’s Hospital Pediatric Chronic Dialysis Department. MacDonald shared information about kidneys and their function, what happens when kidneys fail completely, the RCH Dialysis Department in general, kidney disease and kidney transplants, how dialysis ties into transplantation, who is involved in the children’s treatment program, how the department is funded and how it’s growing, and their vision for the department.
Guests also received an update about the exciting event the Del Mar Auxiliary Unit has planned for February 6, at Anthology. Titled The Stage is Set for Something Special, the fundraiser includes dinner and dancing, music by The Mighty Untouchables, and a live auction with Bill Menish. Sheryl Seltser is event chair.
