The Bishop’s School got its groove on during the 2012 Annual Auction, titled Disco Knights. Co-chairs Bridget Musante, Kelly Dorvillier, and Melissa Swanson presented the festive event, which supported the school’s financial aid and faculty professional growth programs. The 2012 event featured an exclusive patron reception, silent auction, wine auction, and a sit down dinner, as well as a live auction of exceptional items followed by live music and dancing to Haute Chile.

Each year, the school’s auction nets approximately $1 million in direct support of the Bishop’s student need-based financial aid and faculty professional growth programs. Twenty-one percent of the current student body is receiving $2.9 million through the financial aid program, allowing the school to attract the best and the brightest students from all backgrounds, regardless of their ability to pay.

In a special presentation, Head of School Aimeclaire Roche introduced guest speaker Chelsea Allen, Bishop's Class of 2007, who is now in her final year at Yale. Allen is an example of the exceptional students aided by the school’s financial aid program, carrying the benefits of her experience and education at Bishop’s into the worldwide community.

Disco Knights, the school’s 27th annual auction, featured tray-passed appetizers by Giuseppe’s Catering and the Fish Market Restaurant; a wine-paired, sit-down dinner for 400 by Giuseppe’s Catering; a premium wine auction; live and silent auctions with an emphasis on items that offer unique experiences; and dancing to Haute Chile.

The exceptional silent and live auction items, unique experiences, and vacations of a lifetime also added to the incredible experience the evening provided. This year’s committee introduced electronic bidding from guests’ personal cell phones with Text2Bid opportunities. With a catalog of hundreds of outstanding items, attendees enjoyed the friendly competition of bidding for a 5-night dream trip to New York, featuring a SoHo loft, dining at Balthazar, theatre tickets and a custom design from Jonathan Cohen’s Fall/Winter collection; an adorable black English Labrador puppy; trips to Hawaii, Park City, Las Vegas, Fiji and other grand locales; exclusive behind-the-scenes tours; private catered dinners with celebrity chefs and much, much more.
