The Belly Up in Solana Beach will host a benefit concert and silent auction for Kat Mills on November 29 at 8pm. The benefit will help raise funds to help with the medical expenses that occurred when she was hospitalized for heart failure due to a genetic disorder. In addition to her heart failure, she had lung failure and was induced into a 24-hour coma to save her life. After being stabilized, she received an ICD (Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator). Kat endured nine days in the ICU for recovery with no health insurance. She will not be able to work for seven more weeks.

Kat Mills, 42, is a beloved and longtime employee of the Belly Up and is adored by many of her local patrons. Her miraculous recovery was due in part to the quick response of the Solana Beach Fire Department and the staff at Encinitas Scripps Memorial Hospital.

The benefit will feature SoulRaye, Stripes and Lines, and DJ Man-Cat, and the price is $20. The Belly Up is also hosting a silent auction and raffle drawing. To donate money or silent auction items, please contact Meryl at meryl@bellyup.com by November 24. (858/481-8040, www.bellyup.com)
