On Friday, November 12, the International Bipolar Foundation (IBPF) and BringChange2Mind present a special evening at The Grand Del Mar with Glenn Close and her sister Jessie Close. In addition to hearing firsthand from Glenn about how we can help dispel misconceptions about mental illness, the event will also include a VIP reception, delectable dinner prepared by chef William Bradley, and entertainment. According to IBPF, one in six adults and nearly one in ten children have a diagnosable mental illness, as many as one in five people with bipolar disorder completes suicide, and the annual cost of treating mental illness (more than $150 billion) is increasing by 20 percent annually. The event aims to enhance care and support for all affected, erase stigma through education, and work towards eliminating bipolar disorder through the advancement of research. Seating is extremely limited. (858/342-0327, www.internationalbipolarfoundation.org)
