On Friday, September 11, from 4-6pm, Stefan Lessard, bassist for the Dave Matthews Band, will host a beach cleanup with the Surfrider Foundation San Diego Chapter, one day prior to the group’s concert at Cricket Wireless Amphitheatre. The cleanup will take place at the Ocean Beach pier and the public is encouraged to join Lessard and the Surfrider Foundation to help keep our beaches clean. “The Surfrider Foundation is excited to work with Stefan Lessard and to help raise awareness about the effects of beach litter. Over 80 percent of marine debris is land-based,” notes Bill Hickman of the San Diego Surfrider Foundation. “So, if we can stop litter at the source we can help protect the oceans and all of the marine life that we love.” Dave Matthews Band concert tickets and prizes will be given away to select participants. Dave Matthews Band is scheduled to perform with Switchfoot at Cricket Wireless Amphitheatre in Chula Vista on Saturday, September 12.
The Surfrider Foundation is a non-profit grassroots environmental organization dedicated to the protection and enjoyment of our world’s oceans, waves and beaches for all people. Now in its 25th year, the Surfrider Foundation has grown from a small group of dedicated surfers in Malibu, California to a global movement made up of over 50,000 members in 90 chapters worldwide.
