On Wednesday, July 29, Vista Hill Women’s Council on Mental Health and California Bipolar Foundation present a special luncheon and opportunity to hear father and son David Sheff and Nic Sheff speak about their struggle and harrowing experience with bipolar disorder and addiction. Renowned journalist David Sheff is the author of Beautiful Boy: A Father’s Journey through his Son’s Addiction, which chronicles his son’s descent into substance abuse and his gradual emergence into hope. This book has topped the New York Times non-fiction bestseller list and David was recently named Time magazine’s 2009: 100 World’s Most Influential People. Nic Sheff shares his experiences in Tweak: Growing up on Methamphetamines. Both David and Nic will be available to sign their books at the event, which is chaired by Lynn Hart Muto with Laura Galinson serving as honorary chair. Sponsorships, tables of ten, and individual seating are available. Advance reservations are required. (www.vistahill.org, www.californiabipolarfoundation.org) JANE SHIOMI
