The Old Globe will host the 2012 Globe Gala on Saturday, July 28, in support of the theater’s education and artistic programs. The annual event will feature an exclusive performance by Broadway veteran and Tony Award-winner Lea Salonga, who is known worldwide for her roles in Miss Saigon and Les Misérables and will star this fall at the Globe in Allegiance – A New American Musical. A special party for gala underwriters will take place on July 23 at Foxhill, the family home of longtime Globe supporter David Copley. Globe board members Pamela Cesak, Jo Ann Kilty and Vicki Zeiger are co-chairs of the 2012 Globe Gala.

The black-tie event will begin with a reception and silent auction in Balboa Park’s Alcazar Garden, where guests will have the opportunity to bid on over 250 items. The reception will be followed by Salonga’s performance on the Donald and Darlene Shiley Stage in the Old Globe Theatre, part of the Conrad Prebys Theatre Center. After the performance, dinner and dancing to the music of Impulse will commence on the Globe’s Copley Plaza. The Sheraton San Diego Hotel and Marina will cater the reception and dinner, and valet parking is included in the price of the ticket.

Tickets are $750 (regular seating) and $1,000 (VIP seating) each, and include the reception, performance, dinner and dancing. Tables are also available starting at $7,500. Underwriting opportunities begin at $2,500 per couple and include the pre-gala underwriting party at Copley’s home.
