On Monday, December 5, from 6-9pm, Tender Loving Canines Assistance Dogs, Inc. (TLCAD) presents Autism & Animals, An Evening With Temple Grandin to benefit a designated TLCAD fund to provide service dogs to TERI, Inc. and ACT Today!. At L’Auberge Del Mar, enjoy hosted heavy hors d’oeuvres and a welcome cocktail, no-host bar, opportunity prizes, and a special presentation by keynote speaker Temple Grandin, PhD, arguably the most accomplished and well-known adult with autism in the world. A professor and New York Times best-selling author, Grandin was included in 2010’s annual Time 100 issue that named the people who most affect our world. She has received numerous awards including the Meritorious Achievement Award from the Livestock Conservation Institute. In 2010, Grandin was the focus of Temple Grandin, a semi-biographical HBO film starring Claire Danes as Grandin. The movie was nominated for 15 Emmys, and received seven awards including Outstanding Made for Television Movie and Best Actress in a Drama. Grandin continues to lecture to parents and teachers throughout the U.S. on her experiences with autism. Her articles and interviews have appeared in The New York Times and People, as well as on National Public Radio, 20/20, The View, and the BBC.
