On Thursday, June 2, at 5:30pm, head to the Tidewater Tavern in Solana Beach for a benefit to support North County native Aaron Clubb and his family. This past fall, Clubb was diagnosed with stage 4 brain cancer. Within a week, a large tumor was removed and biopsied. Glioblastoma is the most common, and unfortunately, aggressive form of brain cancer. The average life span is 14 months from diagnosis. The great news is that the surgery was successful, as were his first rounds of radiation and chemo. No new cancer cells have been detected so far. But there is a long road ahead, as this form of cancer has an 85% rate of recurrence. Clubb has a wife, Laurie, and a beautiful four-year-old daughter, Tahlia. He works in construction, so days spent in treatments are days that he isn’t working. Clubb grew up in Solana Beach and Encinitas and went to Torrey Pines High School. The fundraiser will feature a raffle, silent auction, and food and drink specials. (www.clubbfamilyfundraiser2011.shutterfly.com)
