Del Sol Lions, part of Lions International, which serves those less fortunate locally, regionally, and internationally and has more than 1.35 million members, was chartered on February 15, 2010, and includes the communities of Rancho Santa Fe, Solana Beach, Del Mar, Carmel Valley, and unincorporated San Diego. Del Sol Lions will host its inaugural fundraiser on Saturday, May 14, at Lomas Santa Fe Country Club, benefiting Reality Changers and St. Leo’s Medical and Dental Clinics. Arne Duncan, secretary of education, notes, “It is a model. Not for the city, not for the state, but for the country.” The evening includes a silent and live auction, dinner, entertainment, and casino tables.
