United Through Reading presents the Storybook Ball at the Hyatt Regency La Jolla at Aventine on Sunday, November 14. Because of United Through Reading, parents are reading to their children from desert camps in Iraq and Afghanistan and from U.S. Navy ships and USO locations all over the world. Jeff Kinney, author of the bestselling Diary of A Wimpy Kid series, will serve as the honorary chair of this year’s gala and will be on hand to help honor the USO and USO CEO Sloan Gibson. Guests will enjoy hors d’oeuvres and a silent auction followed by a sumptuous meal, fine wine, and an exciting live auction. Tickets are $200 per person.
