The Junior League of San Diego (JLSD) is 80 years old, and getting younger every day. After all, it’s existed since 1929, when it was initiated with only 20 members. Since then, JLSD has raised and donated millions of dollars for a huge range of causes. Over the 20th century, and now well into the 21st, Junior League has led the way. Because an anniversary celebration was definitely in order, JLSD recently hosted a beautiful luncheon at Loews Coronado Bay Resort, where Frances Mayes, author of the very popular book Under the Tuscan Sun, was the keynote speaker. JLSD is smart, stylish, and up-to-date. Up next is Island Divine, a food and wine tasting fundraiser on April 18 from 3-7pm at Ellen Browning Scripps Park at La Jolla Cove.
