Baked not fried. Stairs instead of the elevator. These are just a few of the heart-healthy choices women can make to fight heart disease, the number one killer of women 20 and over. Our Hearts, Our Choice is the theme of the American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women luncheon March 13 at The Grand Del Mar. The event includes a health and wellness expo, health screenings, and, of course, a good-for-your-heart lunch. It marks the end of month-long events designed to raise awareness about the warning signs of heart attack (chest discomfort, shortness of breath, and other symptoms) and lifestyle changes to promote heart health.
