For the 80th Anniversary Ruby Jubilee Candlelight Ball, Betty Knight Scripps, who serves as general chairman of the ball for the seventh consecutive year, is planning a night to remember. Guests will enjoy gourmet dining, dancing to The Bob Hardwick Sound, and spectacular holiday décor on Saturday, December 5, at The Grand Del Mar, with proceeds set to benefit Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla. The ball will also include an appearance by guest of honor, Academy Award-winning actor and La Jolla native Cliff Robertson. Candlelight Ball’s rich history dates back to the hospital’s beginning when it was as a small but vital community hospital with 44 beds, an operating room, X-ray room, and delivery room.
