On Friday, November 13, the third annual Matt Vasgersian Charity Texas Hold ’Em Tournament will take place at San Diego Hall of Champions to benefit Tender Loving Canines and Champion Sports Academy. Poker players of all levels can join Matt Vasgersian for a night festive fundraising. The first round of play in this no-limits tournament begins at 5:30pm. The public can register for the tournament at www.mattvcharitypoker.com. The entry fee is $200 per player (with a one-time $100 optional re-buy fee the day of the event). Non-playing guests are being asked for a $20 donation for entry. Entry fees include hosted food and beverage, prizes and an opportunity to bid on unique items such as sports memorabilia and an opportunity drawing.
 

Vasgersian, currently the lead anchor for the Major League Baseball Network, has hosted NBC’s Heads Up Poker Championship and GSN’s Celebrity Blackjack and World Series of Blackjack and most recently was Channel 4’s play-by-play voice for the San Diego Padres from 2002-2008.
 

Tender Loving Canines (TLCAD) is a nonprofit organization that provides custom-trained assistance dogs to people with disabilities in San Diego County. The organization is managed entirely by volunteers and financially sustained by foundations, grants, sponsorships, and donations. TLCAD was certified by Assistance Dogs International in 2007.
 

Champions Sports Academy (CSA) is the youth educational sports training program developed by the San Diego Hall of Champions to provide a diverse curriculum of life and leadership skills to the San Diego community. CSA targets the continuously emerging young athletes, their coaches and parents or guardians. The mission of Champions Sports Academy is to teach athletic, life and leadership skills using sports and athletes as the vehicles to deliver these messages. CSA will target at-risk boys and girls to make a positive impact on San Diego’s diverse underserved youth sports market.
