Approximately one out of every 100 newborns suffers from congenital heart defects. As a true gift of the heart, Children’s Heart Institute Fund celebrates its 6th annual Helping Little Hearts Heal Gala event on Saturday, October 24, at the Hyatt Regency La Jolla at Aventine to benefit the Children’s Heart Institute at Rady Children’s Hospital.
“This event represents the tireless hours and commitment of our volunteers to assist children and their families with the funds necessary to ensure life-saving surgeries, research, equipment, and support for children born with heart defects,” says Wendy Robinson, chairperson, CHIFund. “As a mother of a child with a heart condition, I am proud to be part of such a heart-warming organization dedicated to ensuring that all children are given a fighting chance.”
To date, Children’s Heart Institute Fund and its dedicated volunteers have raised over $500,000 and assisted over 50,000 children treated by the Children’s Heart Institute. Proceeds from the event will benefit Children’s Heart Institute at Rady Children’s Hospital by funding support groups, important research, and equipment purchases for children born with heart defects.
The event will feature dinner, dancing, live and silent auctions, and a special presentation honoring current and former CHIFund heart patients celebrating their journey and accomplishments. (818/522-7849, www.chifund.org)
