UC San Diego’s architectural campus tours return this summer to give an insider’s look at the design and history of the university, from 1960s modernist pieces to new sustainable buildings. The bus tour takes place from 2-3:30pm. Experienced guides will describe the architectural significance of campus landmarks, from the founding buildings of Scripps Institution of Oceanography to new additions such as the Charles David Keeling Apartments (the campus’s first LEED Platinum certified building) and Fallen Star, the house perched atop Jacobs Hall that is the 18th piece in the Stuart Collection. Tours are free; reservations required. (858/534-4414, www.ucsdnews.ucsd.edu/tours)
