Fill your summer nights with scrumptious wine classes at ENO, a wine, cheese, and chocolate tasting room at Hotel Del Coronado. During the 2009 schedule of ENO-Versity classes, renowned winemakers, cheesemakers, and chocolatiers will join wine director and sommelier Ted Glennon as guests learn the histories, types, and flavors of wines paired with perfectly complemented cheese and chocolate selections. “We are excited to offer ENO-Versity classes to both hotel guests and San Diego locals so that they will have the opportunity to become wine connoisseurs in a fun, communal, and comfortable environment,” says Glennon. “Both our novice and expert guests can interact and learn from the guest winemakers while enjoying new wines in an intimate setting.” Classes take place Saturdays from 4-5:30pm and cost $35 per person. Space is limited. (619/522-8546, www.hoteldel.com/eno-wine) MASON RICHEY
Upcoming ENO-Versity Classes:
July 11 — Rosé!
Enjoy one of the ultimate summer wines. This won’t be White Zinfandel, but rather a selection of awesome pink wines from around the globe.
July 18 — J. Wilkes Wines
Jeff Wilkes crafts Pinot Noir and Pinot Blanc from the Bien Nacido Vineyard in California’s Santa Maria Valley.
August 8 — Four Vines
Four Vines has long been one of ENO’s favorite wineries in Paso Robles. The group loves to challenge conventions, so come and taste their very diverse selection from Tempranillo to Chardonnay.
August 22 — Peter Cargasacchi
Enjoy an intimate laugh riot with Peter Cargasacchi, one of the rising stars of Pinot Noir in California.
September 12 — Sparkling Wines
This was one of the most talked about ENO-Versity classes of last year. Get ready for Round 2!
September 19 — Ted’s Favorite Things
Every day, guests ask wine director Ted Glennon what his favorite wines are, and every day he tries to avoid the question. A good sommelier always tries to focus on the customer’s tastes — it is about you, after all. This ENO class will be a no holds-barred tasting of many of Glennon’s favorite wines and promises to be an eye-opening experience.
October 24 — Taste Of Spain
Few countries have as much to offer in food and wine as Spain, and the value for these items is at times almost absurd. Join ENO for a delicious adventure into the Spanish countryside.
October 31 — Halloween
To be announced. Be afraid. Be very afraid.
