Foodies will savor the sixth annual Celebrate the Craft event showcasing regionally grown ingredients and innovative cooking and winemaking at The Lodge at Torrey Pines from October 30 through November 2. The event will also feature some of the nation’s finest Plein Air painters who will set up canvases on-site and recreate the enchanting landscape of the Torrey Pines State Reserve. On Saturday night, cocktails and a dinner reception will include live and silent auctions featuring paintings created over the weekend. At a picnic on the Arroyo Terrace on Sunday, visitors will experience the culmination of the weekend’s culinary display while enjoying cooking demonstrations from participating chefs, exploring various food stations showcasing area growers, vintners and suppliers, sampling products, and meeting their creators. “The growing season runs year-round in our neck of Southern California, and the local agricultural community takes full advantage, affording us a unique variety of the freshest produce,” says Jeff Jackson, executive chef at the Lodge’s A.R. Valentien. “With a daily abundance of fresh food to work with, it’s little wonder our local chefs are so creative.” (858/777-6635, www.celebratethecraft.com) RINA VAN ORDEN
