The Encinitas location of Hot Dog On A Stick, the only street location of this nostalgic, employee-owned “hot dog and lemonade” eatery, celebrates its one-year anniversary on May 5 and 6 by offering customers free lemonade with the purchase of any regular food item. The store will also serve free hot dogs on a stick, the company’s signature dish and namesake, both days from 3-4pm.
The Encinitas Hot Dog On A Stick, located at 260 North El Camino Real, Suite B, is only the second store in over 65 years to be placed outside of a mall setting (the only other location nationwide being the original store in Santa Monica). This anniversary marks a milestone in the growth of Hot Dog On A Stick and future “street stores” for the locally-based company headquartered in Carlsbad.
“We wanted to make the beloved Hot Dog On A Stick brand even more accessible by opening a street location in Encinitas and are thrilled by the warm reception we’ve received from the community over the past year,” says Laurie Sonia, executive vice president of Hot Dog On A Stick. “Giving away free lemonade and hot dogs on a stick during our anniversary weekend celebration is our way of saying thank you to our loyal customers and welcoming new customers into our family.”
This fast-casual and affordable family-favorite, established in 1946, continues to serve the comforting Americana, fair-inspired menu items it became famous for, including Hot Dogs On A Stick in a cornbread batter and fresh-squeezed lemonade. Healthier options are available, including all-turkey hot dogs, sugar-free fresh squeezed lemonade, and food-drink combos under 300 calories. Over the years the menu has expanded to include a variety of lemonade flavors (original, cherry, lime, and sugar-free), cheese on a stick, hot dog in a bun, veggie dog on a stick, french fries, and funnel cake sticks.
During this anniversary weekend, raffle tickets for two $25 gift cards to Hot Dog On A Stick may also be purchased for $1 each, with proceeds going to benefit the Encinitas chapter of the Boys and Girls Club of San Dieguito. The Encinitas location of Hot Dog On A Stick strives to stay actively involved in its local community through partnerships with such organizations as Little League, La Costa Canyon High School, local parent teacher associations, and community events.
