Celebrating its tenth year, the annual Taste at the Cove is returning to La Jolla Cove to bring together food, fashion, one-of-a-kind auction items, and professional athletes all a not-to-be-missed evening. Taking place on Wednesday, August 31, 5:30–9pm, San Diego Sports Medicine Foundation’s (SDSMF) signature fundraiser will honor one community legend and one medical champion. Enjoy food from over 30 of the best restaurants in La Jolla and San Diego, hosted bars, a New York-style fashion show, opportunity drawings, silent and live auctions, and more. The event benefits the SDSMF’s mission to provide a medical safety net for injured youth with limited financial means in order to return them back to health, sports and life.

“It is incredible that we are celebrating ten years,” says Dave Chao, MD, founder and president of the SDSMF. “Guests can expect the unexpected and know they are helping us bring top-quality care to injured youth who are in need."

This year's community legend honoree is former San Diego Padres relief pitcher Trevor Hoffman. Honorees for the “community legend” are recognized for their strong San Diego ties and contributions to the community through their on-the-field and off-field-efforts. During his 18-year career, Hoffman pitched for the Florida Marlins, San Diego Padres, and the Milwaukee Brewers, spending 15+ years of his career with the Padres. As baseball's all-time leader with 601 saves, San Diego will retire “No. 51” on August 21 after a game against the Florida Marlins. Taste at the Cove will recognize and honor Hoffman for a lifetime of accomplishments.
