San Diego History Center (SDHC) presents its second annual Taste of San Diego Micro Brews fundraiser at the History Center in Balboa Park on June 4, from 6-10pm. The event celebrates the rich history of brewing in San Diego and recognizes local breweries that are making an impact on the national micro-brewing scene with their award-winning craft beers. Highlights include a logo design contest, a commemorative/collaborative beer being brewed exclusively for the event, and the opportunity to bid on one-of-a-kind auction items. Local breweries pouring for the event include: Karl Strauss; Rock Bottom, La Jolla; Stone Brewing Co.; Ballast Point; Alesmith Brewing Co.; Port Brewing; and Lost Abbey. SDHC executive director David Kahn says, “San Diego’s role in the proliferation of the micro-brew movement in America has been understated in the past. This is a fun and informative event where we bring the history behind San Diego brewing to the forefront.”

Ticket sales are limited to 250, and are $50 per person or $75 per person for VIP. This event sold out last year and this year promises to be even better. Proceeds go to support SDHC’s ongoing public education programs, exhibits, and collections. SDHC is dedicated to helping people of all ages learn about and enjoy the history of San Diego, and to appreciate how our past, present, and future are interrelated. The History Center was founded in 1928 and is one of the oldest and largest historical organizations in California. Together with the Chicago History Museum, the Atlanta History Center, and the Museum of the City of New York, it is one of only a handful of institutions nationwide that is dedicated to celebrating the heritage of a major American city.
