July 14-22, the Mercury Insurance Open presented by Tri-City Medical Center will take place at La Costa Resort & Spa, featuring some of the best women’s tennis players in the world. In keeping with the spirit of promoting health and wellness, on Thursday, July 19, from 4-6pm, Tri-City Hospital Foundation will host its inaugural Fashion that Heals in partnership with Saks Fifth Avenue of South Coast Plaza. The event, benefitting women’s health programs at Tri-City Medical Center, will feature a silent auction, cocktails, appetizers, and a runway fashion show.
Attendees will also enjoy an enlightening presentation by keynote speaker Mimi Guarneri, MD, renowned cardiologist and national leader in the field of integrative medicine. The pioneer of the Scripps Center for Integrative Medicine and author of The Heart Speaks will discuss “Health is Wealth: Renewing Body, Mind and Spirit.” “We no longer wait for disease to happen,” says Guarneri. “Diabetes, heart disease, osteoporosis, cancer, obesity, and inflammation are all preventable. We believe that information leads to knowledge and that transformation is obtained by putting this knowledge into practice.”
“Women are the backbone of our families and our communities, and when they need medical treatment, they deserve the best in terms of facilities, equipment, and personnel,” notes Tobi Ferguson, president, Tri-City Hospital Foundation. “We believe our approach to women’s health at Tri-City will always be in fashion.”
Since its creation in 1964, Tri-City Hospital Foundation has raised more than $43 million in support of Tri-City Medical Center initiatives, from blankets that keep patients warm to the latest robotic surgery systems, and everything in between. Fashion committee co-chairs are Dawn Hall Cunneen and Valerie Lindholm. Tickets are $200 for the fashion show only, or $225 for the fashion show and the evening’s tennis match.
