She’s arguably one of the most famous and photographed women in the world — Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge. The man charged with the care of the royal hair, her “mane man,” is James Pryce, the high-end hairstylist who designed Kate’s romantic “demi-chignon” for her April wedding to Prince William. In what he called “the gig of the century,” Pryce devised the up-and-down “do,” swept off the princess’ face and pinned in the back. That, along with her signature straight look, has caused a sensation, spawning thousands of copy-cats and “hair tutorials” on YouTube. Not since “the Rachel,” the now iconic cut once created for actress Jennifer Aniston, has hair raised such a sensation.
But you don’t have to be a princess to have Pryce himself pamper your locks. He kicks off the West Coast leg of his U.S. salon tour, sponsored by L’Oreal Paris, on Monday, February 13, at Rancho Santa Fe’s Salon Salon International, with subsequent stops up the coast.
In honor of his late mother, who died of breast cancer, Pryce is partnering with Men Against Breast Cancer, a nonprofit that provides support to educate and empower men to be effective caregivers. Pryce is donating proceeds from sales of his logo T-shirts to the cause. (bookings@jamesprycelondon.com, www.menagainstbreastcancer.org) ANDREA NAVERSEN
