The Museum of Photographic Arts (MOPA) presents its evening film series Pop Thursdays on June 16, featuring Ed Hardy: Tattoo the World (2010), directed by Emiko Omori and dedicated to the art and history of tattoo culture. This recently released documentary follows Hardy’s journey as an artist and his rise to cult status through his iconic designs. The event will also showcase live tattoo demos by Rob Benavides of Flying Panther Tattoo, with DJ Rob Moran setting the night’s soundtrack. Take home your own form of wearable (and less permanent art) via a silk-screened T-shirt activity led by local arts collective The Roots Factory. Craft cocktails will be available, prepared by the master mixologists of Alchemy Restaurant. The galleries will be open to view Face to Face: Works from the Bank of America Collection. The event begins at 7pm, with the film starting at 8pm in the Joan & Irwin Jacobs Theater. Admission is $8, $7 for students, and free for MOPA members.
