The 15th Annual Wings Over Gillespie, sponsored by Barona Resort & Casino, will commemorate the 66th Anniversary of D-Day with air shows complete with a mock battle and precision formation team, and a display of more than 40 World War II aircrafts including trainer aircraft, fighter planes, military helicopters, and more.
A youth educational day will take place on Friday, June 4. Aviation experts will give students tours of the aircrafts on display and talk about aviation history. Thousands of people from around the San Diego region are expected to attend the three-day event presented by the Air Group One, the San Diego Wing of the Commemorative Air Force at the Gillespie Field in El Cajon, just 20 minutes east of downtown San Diego. All proceeds will benefit The World War II Flying Museum at San Diego’s Gillespie Field.
