The historic Gaslamp Quarter invites car enthusiasts to stroll Fifth Avenue from K Street to E Street on Sunday, October 9, from 11am-4pm, to get up close and personal with some of the most iconic automobiles in history. Free and open to the public, the 3rd Annual Fifth Avenue Auto Showcase will feature high-performance automobiles ranging from traditional classics to the lavish luxury modern vehicles of today. New this year — the Gaslamp has opened up its streets to entire car clubs. Meet the Mopar Club of San Diego and The East County Cruisers, along with their award-winning vehicles. Mopar is a group of car enthusiasts dedicated to the preservation, restoration, and modification of Chryslers, Dodges, Plymouths, DeSotos, and AMCs. The Cruisers will take over an entire block with their classic collection of vintage vehicles. The show will wrap up with the People’s Choice Award, where participants and the public vote for their favorite car in the show. Event proceeds will go towards the Gaslamp Quarter Association’s annual holiday lighting program that runs November and December throughout the district. (619/233-5008, www.gaslamp.org)   MIA STEFANKO
